Black Friday want list: set your price before the sale

Which? found 83% of products in Black Friday sales matched or beat their sale price at other times. Set your price from price history first, shortlist exact models with ChatGPT, then buy or walk away.

Before Friday 27 November 2026, give each big buy one row on a want list: what it must have, and the price you'd pay, set from price history before the sale. Ask ChatGPT for a shortlist of exact models, add a price alert if it saves you a job, then buy at your price or note that you walked away.

Steps follow OpenAI's ChatGPT Help Center articles on shopping and scheduled tasks, and the Which? Black Friday price study, checked 19 October 2026. The Ashdown example is made up.

Which? tracked the prices of 175 appliances at eight major retailers from May 2024 to May 2025. It found that 83% were the same price or cheaper at least once outside the four-week Black Friday sales period, which it measured as 15 November to 12 December 2024. And none of the deals it checked on Black Friday itself was at its lowest price of that year. Which? advises tracking prices before the sale so you know the price you're looking for. The want list writes that price down early, next to what the item must have, and ends with a line you fill in either way: bought, or walked away.
